More transfer projects

Little ones are fascinated with the sound of the rice or beans, beads or whatever they're dumping into the other container. They also sense a feeling of satisfied accomplishment when they've successfully emptied one container into the next. Change the containers, utensils and material to transfer often, and this will continue to be a favorite activity for years. Always remember to start out with the full container on the left to instill the left to right reading skills for later. Below is a pic. of several different transfer spoons and tongs that we use. We also like chopsticks but they are for the older ones, maybe 4-6 yr olds.

Hi, I just came across your blog. I love your collection of tongs. Where'd you get them? We have done some Montessori inspired activities too. Do drop in and check them out.

Well, I got the metal ones in a set at walmart, the bamboo one at Montessori services (they have a large selection of practical life items), the pink plastic spoon maybe the dollar store or something like that, and the collection of wooden spoons and ladels I found from a seller on Ebay he actually makes them. He sold them in different sets but I asked him to make me up a set of all different sizes and he was more than happy to do that. I believe he was from a different country maybe Thailand ?? somewhere other than the USA but I don't remember where now. He also makes beautiful bowls and such. If you search for him on Ebay and can't find him, let me know and I'll see if I have him saved in my sellers. Thanks and Blessings to you.
